GSDBA Volunteer Committees

To promote its effectiveness, GSDBA requires committees to determine specific goals and objectives, monitor progress, and report to the Board on their accomplishments. The authority for these provisions rests with the Board and all committee members are volunteers.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: To further the mission, goals and activities of GSDBA. Chaired by the President and consists of all officers and the immediate Past President if she or he is on the Board and wishes to participate.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: Charged with membership retention and recruitment. Identifies member benefits and as such develops and plans accordingly to offer members activities and programs to enhance their membership in GSDBA. Promulgates the positive mission and accomplishments of the Association internally and externally.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: This committee plans all mixers and general meetings such as lunches and dinners and generates activities encouraging networking opportunities for members, as well as encourages social interaction among the membership.

Chair: Rick Fisher

PUBLIC RELATIONS / MARKETING COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: Places external news releases and utilizes opportunities at community events to advertise GSDBA’s presence. Interfaces with community publications on behalf of the Association. Creates and administers yearly advertising budget.

DIRECTORY COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: In conjunction with the Executive Director oversees and plans the Association’s Directory. Sets goals and objectives to be met for the production of the yearly Resource Directory. Sets policy, pricing, format and production of the yearly Resource Directory.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: Oversees the finances of the organization and reviews budgets and Financial Reports, the annual budget and corporation’s annual audit. Chaired by the treasurer.

BUSINESS NETWORKING GROUPS COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: To build business among members through overseeing the networking groups and insuring their growth and effectiveness.

AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: To welcome and mentor new members and bring members together to serve on GSDBA committees. To supply volunteers for Association events.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: To promote the business interests and growth of member businesses through business programs. To research grant opportunities for the Association.

Co-Chairs: Fred Shadlow and LaGina Glass

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: Has the responsibility to oversee all human resource related issues: recruitment, employee manual, job descriptions, salaries, benefits of employment, HR forms, performance evaluation processes, safety programs, budget related items, employee relations oversight, and other personnel related issues as they develop.

CORPORATE OUTREACH COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: This committee focuses on obtaining corporate sponsorships of GSDBA programs and activities. Works with the entire Board to make GSDBA known in the wider Business Community.

PRIDE COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: To plan and coordinate GSDBA’s participation in the annual Pride Parade and Festival.
