speakers discussing issues pertinent to LGBT
professionals and their allies at a sit down lunch.
Special Guest Speaker: Kevin Beiser
San Diego Unified School Board Member, Dist B
ABOUT KEVIN BEISER: Grew up in poverty; the only member of his family to graduate from high school and college. After returning to school and earning his masters degree and two teaching credentials, he helped turn around Granger Junior High in National City and was named the San Diego Math Teacher of the Year in 2009. Kevin has been involved in several capacities to improve education and in 2010, he was elected to the San Diego Unified School Board.
We’ve invited Kevin to speak today about the district’s efforts to reduce bullying in schools. We also hope to hear about his passion for programs that support the gifted and talented education program.
Some of our past speakers include Council member Todd Gloria, USD Economics professor Alan Gin, U-T Editor Jeff Light, City Independent Budget Analyst Andrea Tevlin, Dr. David Shamblaw, Congressman Bob Filner, Scripps Center for Integrative Care founder Dr. Mimi Guarneri, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, Port of San Diego past board chair Scott Peters, UCSD Professor Scott Erie.
