The Professional Development Groups program is designed to provide professional development for members in the same or related professions.  The focus is to support one another within a specific professional field and to help participants bring their businesses to a new level.  The groups meet once a month.  The format of each group is decided by the group and includes significant time for the exchange of ideas and information.  Groups include guest speakers and/or group member presentations on topics of interest.  Professional Development Groups are free to GSDBA members.

You are invited to participate in the Wholistic Expo 2012, happening August 24-26 at the San Diego Convention Center (see GSDBA Events calendar).  There are two ways to get involved and take advantage of this incredible opportunity to promote your business (very little cost – free passes into exhibit area provided):

 

  1. Volunteer for shift(s) manning one of two booths on the exhibit floor open from 9:00AM – 7:00PM each day.
    1. Promote Your Business Booth: This booth is for promoting the individual health related businesses of those manning it.  Selling is allowed.  Those manning the booth should also be able to speak to the audience about GSDBA and the benefits of membership.
    2. GSDBA Booth: This booth is for promoting the GSDBA as an organization.  Those manning this booth may also promote their own business (not restricted to health).  Those manning this booth should be prepared to speak about GSDBA membership benefits and activities.

 

  1.  The organizers of the event are offering free demonstration time and space in the Activities Area to GSDBA Affinity Health members for this three day event. The demos will start at 10 AM and go through to 4:30 each day. They will be in an outside area in partial shade.  It is our desire to have every slot filled with a GSDBA Health Affinity member who can showcase their wellness and healing abilities/work. There is also an Activities Area Booth: This booth is ideal for an extended conversation immediately following ones demonstration and certain audience members with questions.                                                                           

 

These demonstrations are to last at least 30 minutes – including set up and tear down time, and are intended to show Expo attendees a sampling of your work, and are to be interactive.  You can bring your own “model” or use a volunteer from the audience.  You can book for more than 30 minutes, and on multiple days if you so desire.   If you are a Yoga Instructor, for example, you might want to have yourself do the demo and get the attendees to try something simple. Or you can have a student demonstrate something to gain interest in your classes and/or services. You and your “models”/helpers, will be given free passes to the Expo for each day you are doing a demo.

 

A microphone will be provided as well as a stage area with chairs for attendees to watch. You will be able to pass out your business cards at your demo time as well as put your business brochures/cards in one of the three GSDBA booths. You are also welcome to help staff a booth before or after your demo time. 

 

To sign up for a slot please reply to this email  with the desired days and times you wish to fill, your choice of booth or what you will demo, your contact information,  and the number of people you will have with you. Once you have signed up for an Activities Area demo slot, we will ask you to fill in and return a release form and you will then be given passes to get into the area.

 

Please post the attached flyer at your place of business to promote the convention and your part in it; send a photo of your posting to torah@wholistic.in to receive a free pass to the exhibit area.

Due to road closures (flooding) in Mission Valley, I must cancel our meeting for this evening.

However, because our meeting is so important and time critical, I'd like to reschedule it for next Tuesday, 12/28 at 6PM.  If you wish to attend this meeting but this time and date is not possible, please email me.  If sufficient number of people are not able to make this alternate meeting date, I will schedule the meeting for another date and time.

Keep checking your emails for updates.

Due to a schedule conflict with the GSDBA Mixer, we will NOT be holding our usual Health Affinity Group Meeting this Tues. evening. Please be sure to put Nov. 16, on your calendars for our next Health Affinity Group meeting. See you next month or at this Tues. Fall Mixer.

Just wanted to remind everyone about our meeting tomorrow afternoon, 4 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel Bar. Please let me know if you will be attending. We'll start the discussion with challenges and successes you've had in your business this past month.
